Schneider Electric has firmed up its plans to tap the Greenfield hospital projects coming up in the country with its uninterruptable clean power technology ‘InfraStruXure’ to function at these new healthcare facilities.
InfraStruXure solution is a complete electrical distribution architecture that maximises uptime, energy efficiency and maintenance optimisation to save up to 30 per cent on operating costs. Currently, the company has its installations in the top 10 hospitals including Apollo, Manipal and Fortis.
“These healthcare providers have comprehended the importance of clean power solutions and it would take some time before the small and medium hospitals and nursing go in for our solutions. Now investing in a InfraStruXure solution is an indispensable for a healthcare set-up”, Chandrashekhar Prakash Rao, sales director, Secure Power for Industry & Infrastructure, Schneider Electric told Pharmabiz.
While there is a challenge to convince existing hospitals to go for InfraStruXure, Schneider is in the process of creating awareness on the importance of minimising electricity costs by going for power-efficient and environment-friendly options, he added.
However, there are still many hospitals which do not have secure power solutions. Therefore, the company foresees ample growth opportunities. It is targeting new hospitals as it would easy to install InfraStruXure. However, it would take a while to bring small-medium hospital into the Schneider ambit, stated Rao.
Schneider has a good share of business with major original equipment manufacturers (OEMs)like Philips Medicals and Siemens as its electrical distribution architecture is embedded into products during design stage itself. Viewing electrical distribution architecture is the future for medical equipment product technology, it is working to tap other med-tech device companies.
With energy costs soaring, the company sees need for efficient and constant power availability in hospitals. The easily installed InfraStruXure solution provides higher greater operational and energy efficiency which is ideal for a wide range of environments, from wiring closets to data centres and modalities throughout a hospital.
Further, InfraStruXure helps to immediately eliminate hot spots. It enhances overall efficiency, economises power consumption and ensures optimal availability besides enables best level of building operation traceability.
Current competition for Schneider Electric in the area of uninterruptible power supplies, electronics peripherals and data centre products include Emerson, Eaton and Socomec. For hospitals in the tier II cities it has Numeric and other local players competing in the market.
The company intends to grow in the healthcare segment having a focussed approach with top 10 hospitals to provide complete one Schneider Electric solution. It is working to address the tier II and III healthcare providers through a country wide authorised system integrators and incorporate Schneider Electric solution with OEMs as per the global standard, said Rao.
